Norman Clayton

Studying at the Rhode Island School of Design, Norman Clayton discovered that he could put his artistic interests in one form: a letterpress printed book. Typography, beautiful paper, letterpress printing and hand book binding were brought together in one heavenly place, the type shop.

After several years working as a printer and manager in Bay Area printshops, Normal set up his own type shop in Ojai, north of Los Angeles. There he continues work as a book designer, letterpress printer, and teacher, maintaining internship and apprenticeship programs.
