For the first time ever, Having spent a fair amount of time pondering this, I am welcoming friends and international visitors to join me at Woodville Palace in Shimla for a sacred art-themed retreat. 30 Nov – 4 Dec, 2024.

It has always been a deep desire to promote the rich cultural heritage of the erstwhile kingdom of Jubbal, where our ancestors lived, and Shimla the state capital. Shimla is known as the Queen of India’s Hill Stations, capital of Himachal Pradesh, and former summer capital of India. It is filled with spectacular forested scenery, ancient temples, quaint colonial architecture, and vibrant streets and markets that are intact and preserved since the days of the British era.

During my retreat, I will be holding discussions on the healing power of Indian classical music. There will be conversations on gut health and the power of Tibetan medicine and the availability of local potent herbs. Participants may also attend sacred art classes with Ekabhumi Charles Ellik, a published author and illustrator whose work graces temples, altars, and yoga studios around the world. Morning asana yoga sessions, field trips to visit local temples, and lessons on the philosophy of spiritual creativity are all on the itinerary.

Together we will embrace autumn in all its golden and ochre hues. High Tea will be served and you will relish the silver tea sets and fine china that have been immaculately preserved for generations. My jovial father, the custodian of his generation in our lineage, will preside over the occasion. He quite a storyteller! Later, our family priest will conduct a ceremony to invoke Sri Laksmi, goddess of abundance and spiritual wealth.

Our venerable home, fortunately, is an Art Deco period delight, and will serve as our haven for the week. Here, we will have the opportunity to share the local cuisine with you, appreciate live classical music, and stroll through acres of manicured gardens, resplendent with ancient trees and exotic blooms.
