Sacred art of the tantrik tradition has the power to transform your inner landscape and experience of reality. Whether used as a focalpoint for meditation, or centerpiece of ritual, art is an indispensble part of mystic practices of India.
Please joint us for the opening reception of the Mystic Art of Transforamtion. View authentic icons made for shrines, as illustrations for ritual texts, scholarly books, and yoga studios. Artworks include illustrations of deities from ancient scriptures, mandalas, and collaborative projects. This event is free and open to the public.
More than 20 original artworks are on display, including pieces made collaboratively by Ekabhumi, Anna Weisman, Tamara Vodovoz, and Anita Sinclair. Copies of the Shakti Coloring Book will also be available for purchase.
The official opening for this show will be part of April’s First Fridays/Art Murmur (April 7th). There are literally a dozen more galleries filled with art within walking distance of our venue in Downtown Oakland. Feel free to arrive or depart any time during the evening.
On the same night, internationally-renowned Buddhist artist Andy Weber will be giving a talk about the Medicine Buddha at the same location, upstairs, starting at 7pm.. There will be more art-related events held at Mohari throughout April, TBA.
This is a great excuse to take a night out with someone you are fond of, as there are many restaurants and clubs nearby. Stop by after dinner to enjoy the art, hear a little informative talk, and treat yourself to our free treats: a keg of kambucha, red wine, and abundant healthy snacks.
